Didn't Break the Fast Right

The morning after day 10 I didn't feel too well. As I posted before, I ate chicken noodle soup that morning. I intended to drink O.J. for the rest of the day and then the next day, but that didn't happen. My body was begging for nutrition and that is what I gave it. So, the 3 day fast breaking plan is out the window. I knew of the weight that I lost I would gain some of it back, so I am back at 150 as of this morning. I will start back on my regular exercise routine today, along with keeping a food journal. Was the M.C. worth it? Hmmmmmm, yeah. I think that if I would have drank some water on day 10 instead of completely avoiding the M.C. drink, I would have been okay. Overall, it was a good experience that really tested my discipline. I also think that going through the 10 days of not eating helped me to appreciate food more, to take my time with it, make the right choices. Well, this ends my Master Cleanse experience. Be safe everyone.

Day 10...It's OVER!!!

I am so glad I am finished with this fast. Every since the 8th day, which is when I started back on my birth control patch cycle, I have been feeling pretty weak during the morning. I know today is the first day off of the fast and that I said I would drink fresh squeezed orange juice, but at around 2:00 this morning I woke up extremely thirsty so I got up to get some water. I was feeling pretty weak and as I was putting the water back into the fridge I fell to the ground. I was okay, as far as I was not hurt, but I felt I had to get back in bed immediately. I awoke my S.O. and he came in to see if I was okay. I told him I just needed to get back in bed. He then said "You are done with this water diet!" I didn't say anything. He had left the room for a minute, then all of a sudden I felt nauseous. I hurried to the waste basket in our room and threw up the water I just had. I then went to the bathroom and cleaned myself up, put cold water on my face, and felt a little better. I was able to go back to sleep. This morning instead of the orange juice, my S.O. made me some chicken noodle soup with crackers. I'm feeling better now. I think another thing that contributed to this was yesterday I was not drinking much of the M.C. drink. Just the thought of drinking as much as I had been made me nauseous. Basically I think I was dehydrated, but again, I'm feeling a little better now. I'll try to drink the orange juice for the rest of the day and see what happens. If it doesn't make me sick, I'll continue with the orange juice tomorrow as well as update the blog. That's all for now.

Day 9

Yesterday morning I felt rather sick. I think it was b/c my birth control patch was kicking in. After an extended morning in bed and some sips of the M.C. I felt better. The kids had pizza for lunch yesterday and boy did I want to dig in. Again, I controlled the urge. Then for dinner I made pork chops, cauliflower, and some chicken flavored rice. It all smelled good. I guess the aromas got me by. I'm in the midst of day 10, the last day. It's going good so far. I'm going to do a light workout. That's it for now, will definitely write more tomorrow.

Day 8

It was a good day. I stayed in all day because of the winter weather, just me and my kids while my significant other was out plowing snow. I really don't have much to say about day 8 except it went very well, oh I forgot something. I made pizza yesterday for the kids and it looked soooo good. I really had to fight the urge because I LOVE PIZZA. I didn't give in surprisingly. Well that's about it. In the midst of day 9 and not feeling well this morning. I'll talk about that in my post for day 9.

Day 7

On the morning of Day 7 I did the salt water flush. It worked this time because I drank it on an empty stomach. I will do the salt water flush again on the 10th day. I decided not to do the salt water flush every day because I was concerned about intaking too much salt. High blood pressure does run in my family, and I have 2 kids, which can be stressful at times. Another concern I have is using the birth control patch while on this cleanse. When I started this cleanse I was in the midst of my off week. Today I have to start back on the patch cycle. I hope there are no side effects due to me not eating for a week. I stocked up on oranges yesterday in preparation to break my fast on Wednesday. I also had to get more maple syrup, grade A this time, and it was cheaper. I will do the fresh squeezed orange juice thing for 2 days, then on the 3rd day I will do the split pea soup thing, or either chicken broth. On the fifth day I will start on fresh or frozen vegetables, then I will just play it by ear from there. Because of my new found health consciousness, I think I want to take meat, out of my diet, seriously. I love vegetables and I love beans, which are a source of protein. I can just imagine cooking split peas until they are in a soup form, addig the right seasonings, spreading it over whole grain rice and broccoli. That sounds good, might try it on day 6 after the fast. I'm in the midst of day 8. Two more days to go. I can do it.

Day 6

I did it!!! I made it through another day of the master cleanse. I actually think I will be able to go the full 10. I did the salt water flush about an hour ago. Nothing yet. I almost threw up half way through drinking it. It doesn't taste so good, and plus I think too much while I'm drinking it, like where the salt came from, was it processed correctly, all that stuff. I still drank it despite these thoughts. I forgot to mention on day 5 I did a light workout for about 15 minutes. Felt good afterwards. I'm in the midst of day 7 YAY!!! Almost at the finish line. Go me, Go me, Go me :-)

Day 5

I really felt the need for food yesterday. I think it's because I finished my daily supply of the master cleanse drink too early. Every morning I have been making enough to last for the day. I ended up making another batch last night and felt better after having another bottle available to sip from to curb my appetite. I have completed 5 days, as of yesterday, and today is the day I said I would break the fast. Well, I have decided to just continue on and listen to my body. If my body allows me to contiue through the 10th day, then I will. Just playing it by ear for now. I had a very small "elimination" this morning. I did not do the salt flush yesterday though. I may do it tonight. I have reached my 5 day goal and I am proud of that. Let's see how I do from here.

Day 4

I'm still hanging in there. I honestly am ready to EAT :-) I don't know, I probably could do this for up to 10 days. I'm wondering if I can do light exercise, like walking, without revving up my appetite. I ran out of maple syrup today so had to make a run to Wild Oats this morning, got a bigger bottle this time. I will do the salt water flush again tonight and see how that goes, but then again I might go get some herbal laxative tea, might taste better. My mental state? Calm. My health/physical state? Good. I don't feel weak, just would like to know how food tastes again :-) I was reading about the importance of breaking a fast properly. I read that for every 4 days you are on a fast you should take a day gradually introducing the RIGHT foods back to your body. I read it's good to start of with fresh squeezed juice made from either fruits or vegetables. I also read you can break a fast with chicken broth. I might try that one. This master cleanse is pretty popular. When I went to Wild Oats this morning the cashier asked if I was doing the master cleanse. She said she was doing it too and was on day six, cool. I guess Beyonce is the one who made it well known, even though I have read it has been around for years. I am in the midst of day 5. Let's see if I keep it up.

Day 3

I can't believe how easy it has been so far. Yesterday, day 3, was successful. Next time I do this, which I'm thinking after a major holiday that involves lots of food, I will try the liquid cayenne pepper instead. The cayenne powder does not dissolve very well so I have to constantly shake my water bottle so that it is evenly distributed when I drink it. Besides that, the concoction taste pretty good, not disgusting at all. I tried the sea salt and lukewarm water thing yesterday and it did not work, or maybe there was nothing that needed to be "eliminated." I was kind of weary of the Celtic sea salt because when I opened the bag it looked moist and I was wondering if that was how it was suposed to look. I drank it anyway though. Oh well, that's all I have to say for day 3.

Day 2

Day 2 went off without a hitch. There's a trick that I have been practicing to keep me from straying. I imagine eating my favorite foods. I imagine the taste, the texture, the smell...it gets me by. If I was not in the right state of mind when I started this diet, I think I would have given up on day 1. I am convinced that anyone who goes on a diet like this MUST be serious. Well, that's all for now. Today is actually day 3 of the diet. I will give an update tomorrow.

Day 1

Day 1 was successful. I did not eat a thing. I got all the ingredients for the master cleanse from Wild Oats. I even got the sea salt to use at the end of the day, though Im going to wait a couple of days before I start that. My head kind of hurts, but Im not hungry. I think it has something to do with my cycle (ladies know what I'm talking about.) I am really enthusiastic about this at the moment. I was pretty busy yesterday so I really had little time to think about food, except when I cooked dinner for the family. I made some speghetti with italian sausages and garlic bread. It smelled sooo good. I even went as far as sticking my nose in the pot of simmering sauce and sausages to embrace the aroma. I figured If I just did that for a moment, the urge to say "I'll start this diet tomorrow" would wane. I guess it worked. Let's see how day 2 goes...

I'm Going on the Master Cleanse Diet

Master Cleanse Book Pack

I woke up this morning mentally prepared to try the Master Cleanse diet. I had been thinking about trying it for some time, but today, I am finally going to take action. I don't have the ingredients yet, but I will be leaving soon to get them. I havent eaten anything this morning. I only had a tall glass of crystal light, which I am actually still pausing to sip on as I type,(sip, Im so silly). I made a list of the ingredients which I got from one of my post on the Body Like Beyonce blog. Here are the instructions if you would like to follow the diet as well, or click on the youtube video above. As I have heard many times before, try this diet at your own risk, and always consult with your doctor before starting any diet program. I think that's a "cover my ass" statement :-) Anyway, I will be on this diet for 5 days, possibly longer, and with each post I will list my weight. I may also update my posts through out the day. Alrighty then, lets begin:

Starting weight: 155 lbs
